Online MASR 2020

Mindful Awareness & Serenity

with Āyasmā Aggacitta

conducted in English

Date :  Mon 9 –  Sun 15 Nov 2020

Introduction

The Online MAS Retreat is offered in place of the original residential MAS Retreat 2020 at SBS Retreat Centre, Taiping as a response to the third wave of Coronavirus Pandemic currently being experienced by Malaysia.

The Online MAS Retreat is a 7D 6N event conducted by Āyasmā Aggacitta with guided meditation sessions, dhamma talks and group interviews conducted online through the Zoom program. Participants will be able to practice from the safety of their home while still being able to receive guidance from Āyasmā.

How one reacts or responds to what is perceived through the 6 senses will determine one’s quality of life. MAS (Mindful Awareness & Serenity) Retreat reveals key principles and offers practical strategies to help one respond skilfully in daily life so that suffering can be reduced and contentment and happiness increased.

Highlights

  • Oriented towards the practical application of mindfulness in daily life, especially introspective mindfulness
  • Includes the practice of mettā
  • Samatha, vipassanā and the Noble Eightfold Path are clearly and systematically explained and taught in theory and practice.

This retreat will involve participation of yogis from home while receiving guidance and teaching from online Zoom groups conducted by Āyasmā Aggacitta. In order to deter people who just book first and then withdraw at the last moment, thus depriving others of available space, successful applicants who changed their mind will be placed on a watchlist for future retreats.

Dāna

This retreat is being organised by Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary (SBS), which is a Theravāda Buddhist monastery and meditation centre. It follows Buddhist tradition in that it sees the Dhamma to be of such great value that it cannot be bought or sold, it can be transmitted and received only as gift. This is dāna, which in the Pali language means “giving” or “gift.” In this spirit, SBS and Ayasma Aggacitta are offering this retreat as a gift. As a gift is not a payment for service, the amount you choose to give is entirely up to you. Giving dāna is a declaration of mutual respect between giver and receiver. Your dāna will go towards the upkeep and maintenance of SBS and the support of the Buddha Sāsanā
